Specific duties include:
The Quality Microbiologist will conduct the evaluation of products and production processes at The Florida Brewery, Inc.
through certified laboratory testing methodologies, audits, evaluations, and technical inspections.
This will be done by compliance with inspection and testing plans, established programs, and customer requests to determine the conformity of processes and to detect opportunity for improvement.
This position will contribute to the stability, standardization, and improvement over time to our products.
The microbiologist will obtain quality products with highly efficient processes at the lowest possible cost.
Primary duties:
Inspection Plan Execute the analysis explained in our Inspection Plan, as well as follow technical quality guidelines.
Comply with the indicated inspection frequencies.
Execute the analysis of our products according to the methodology approved by our Venezuelan Technical Direction, to verify that our processes and products comply with the Quality standards preset by the Beer and Malta Business.
This analysis begins from the selection of inputs and raw materials used in production lines, to obtaining the final product or service required by our customers.
Immediately inform the TFBI QA Manager about deviation of analytical results, both in execution and specification.
Propose improvements to internal processes based on results achieved.
Support the QA Manager in the permanent revision of the specifications and frequencies indicated in the Inspection Plan to establish that all are updated with the reality of the plant processes.
Propose relevant changes when needed.
All tests must be carried out on time as needed.
All data should be updated on time using the current files or software, following the QA Manager and corporate guidelines.
Laboratory Supplies and Equipment Run the inventory of consumables and laboratory supplies Update the corresponding inventory availability according to what is consumed, and ensure its correct use and adjustment as needed Guarantee the consumption of reagents and consumables according to their expiration date.
Perform the corresponding verifications and calibrations to comply with the program of checks for affected micro equipment.
Clean and perform general maintenance to all micro equipment.
Maintain and guarantee the availability and operation of microbiology equipment, to avoid cross contamination or false results.
Inform the QA Manager if there are deviations in measurements and/or equipment that is observed that require great Brewing Process Support in carrying out the process of yeast propagation in the laboratory and support control in all stages of the yeast propagation, yeast viability, yeast fermentation, and any additional tests required Responsible for carrying out all microbiology tests on tanks, unpasteurized and finish product, water and any additional test required.
Identify and evaluate the risks of the processes in terms of compliance with their requirements.
Analyze possible solutions in conjunction with the operational area to ensure the adequacy, standardization, and stabilization of processes over time.
Report to TFBI QA Manager immediately on observed deviations from the process.
Supplier Claims:
Perform, complete, or report any product test to provide answers for the Supplier Claim handled directly by the QA Manager Participate in testing with suppliers of packaging material.
Customer and Consumer Complaints Support in the attention of claims and the process of investigation of product failures in the absence of the QA Manager.
Perform product traceability on claims and test inspections to detect product failure or deviation.
Analyze possible solutions in conjunction with Operatives to eliminate or reduce the probability that the detected deviation will re-generate the client's claim.
Reporting advances and conclusions obtained in the investigations of the products with claim to the General Manager and QA Manager of TFBI.
Audits Provide support during the execution of technical audits and quality assurance audits on the conformity of processes and products and identify opportunities for improvement.
Support with operational area in finding corrective actions for the elimination of nonconformities identified in audits to ensure the identification of root causes and their consistency in critical functions.
Have all documents current and up to date with the daily operations as audit support.
General The main responsibility for the Quality Microbiologist is the microbiology area, but the tech should know all laboratory testing including physiochemical to be a backup in other areas of the laboratory.
Support in the daily update of the TCC Books and all documents required.
Report any necessity to update SOP or instructions.
Record all the results in the laboratory notebooks and the shared drive to maintain traceability over time.
Update the records of the equipment checks, maintenance, validations, and calibrations.
Prepare samples corresponding to the monthly shipment of products and raw materials (e.
g.
malted barley) with the Quality Control Analyst support to ship to Venezuela, external laboratory, or other required external agent.
All appropriate documents should be included, and samples should be sent with established shipment protocols.
Keep work area neat and clean.
Maintain effective communication with the operational area and technical management in Venezuela.
Use materials, tools, and measuring equipment properly before, during, and after testing.
Continue constant training on the processes and methods used in the microbiology lab.
Quality Microbiologist must have the availability to adjust their schedule according to the needs of the company in specific cases.
Preferably bilingual.
Spanish is needed as our corporate office conducts business and Spanish; and English to be able to communicate and work as a team with the TFBI family.
Position Requirements:
Degree in Microbiology or Biochemistry or related - or equivalent experience Ability to plan and execute protocols Highly skilled in microbiology techniques, methodology, equipment, and supplies In-depth knowledge of laboratory tests used in microbiology work Proficient in methods and practices of microbiological analysis Great ability to keep records and possesses organizational skills Excellent computer skills, comfortable working with technology in different forms such as laptops, tablets etc.
